Brazil - The Amazon

River boats in Manaus - as we depart the port on our five day boat trip down the Amazon River to the coast.

Sleeping accommodations in hammock class - during rough weather you really got to know your neighbours

One of the many river towns we called in to - to load and drop off cargo and passengers, most of which were only accessible by river

One of the many kids who paddled out to see our boat go past

A vendor climbing aboard our boat to sell his produce - fruit in this case. Our boat didn't stop for them but they were able to hook their boats on to ours as we sped past, and climb aboard.

Venezuela

Our boat from Trinidad to Venezuela - pretty cool arriving in a new continent by boat but a shame about where we arrived. Guiria, a port town in Venezuela was possibly the worst place we have visited.

The oldest city in Venezuela, Cumana

Local transport across the Rio Orinoco, Cuidad Bolivar

Historic streets in Ciudad Bolivar

Every town in Venezuela has one - a statue of Simon Bolivar

The Caroni Swamp, home of Trinidad`s national bird, the Scarlet Ibis

Our guide Claude saves us from this Pit Viper while hiking through the hills to Maracas Beach. The shot is blurry because Jake was shaking so much.

But it was all worth it - beautiful Maracas Beach
